About Oregon

The use of NJUNS in Oregon began in 1993.  As the first member-state west of the Mississippi, NJUNS was primarily utilized in the Portland Metropolitan area.  The initial sponsors of the system were Portland General Electric (PGE), Pacific Power (PPL), U S West (PNB), and GTE.  As part of the Scottish Power merger with Pacific Power in 2000, the Oregon Public Utility Commission required that Pacific Power expand the use of NJUNS throughout its service territory which encompasses all regions of the state and thus NJUNS has been utilized throughout the state ever since.

Oregon brought to the forefront the need for a permit module in the Legacy NJUNS program and as one of the largest users of this module our strong user base has been the driving force for changes and expansion of the PA module.

Oregon users have actively participated in regular user group meetings since the early beginnings.  In 2013, NJUNS staff took over facilitation of the user group meetings, hosting two meetings a year.  These meetings allow NJUNS staff to share system information, upcoming enhancements, user data, as well as allow users a forum to discuss NJUNS related issues within the state while allowing staff to gain feedback from the users.
